  When you think of a week aboard a luxury sailing yacht usually what comes to mind is gourmet meals served by your private chef, quiet anchorages, snorkeling in crystal clear waters, playing in the sand of a deserted island, SCUBA diving on a ancient wreck or spirited sails between Caribbean islands. What most vacationers don’t plan on is Deep sea fishing.
In my 17 years of sailing in and around the waters of the British Virgin Islands, including 5 years as a yacht charter captain, I have caught hundreds, if not thousands of fish off the back of sailing yachts whilst underway. This practice, also known as “dragging a line” is sort of an afterthought to most of us. After all, we are down here to sail and swim.
