| March 01, 2007 | Choosing a Sailing Charter Yacht-Catamaran vs. Monohull
 I have to warn you. This will not be a fair comparison. I love catamarans.
I took my first sailing lesson at age 11, and for the next 30 years I sailed a wide variety of monohull yachts. Over the decades I saw an ever increasing number of catamarans in my nautical travels. At first it was only the tiny Hobie Cats. Then a number of one-off custom cruising cats. Then in the 1990s along came the French and South African charter catamarans in the 40’-60’ range. Still when I’d see a catamaran sailing past me on the same tack, I’d put my nose in the air and turn away thinking that the traditional monohull was the only true sailing vessel, albeit a bit slower.
